There've been several big stories that have dominated the headlines this week. The EFF's attempts to stop Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan from speaking in Parliament yesterday. Earlier this week Chief of State Protocol, Bruce Koloane, appeared before the State Capture Commission of Inquiry. He spoke about his role in helping a Gupta chartered flight to land at the Waterkloof airforce base in 2013. Koloane who's now Ambassador to the Netherlands, admitted to name-dropping and using then President Jacob Zuma's name to speed up the process. Also this week, Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan lodged papers in court to interdict the Public Protector's remedial action from being enforced. As you know our power utility Eskom is battling to keep the lights on, just two weeks ago the country was hit by Stage Four load shedding. Now, the public enterprise's ministry and Eskom say that they are confident they be able to keep load shedding to just stage one over the winter period. This morning public enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan said that this would require hard work and that people needed to save as much power as possible. But Eskom also needs another two hundred and fifty billion rand to resolve its problems and pay back its debt. Zimbabwe's Movement for Democratic Change says conditions in Zimbabwe have worsened since President Emmerson Mnangagwa took over from Robert Mugabe. This after Riot police in the capital, Harare, used tear gas and batons to disperse hundreds of anti-government protesters. The violence took place after the opposition MDC failed in its attempt to overturn a police ban on the planned demonstration. Our guest this morning is a South African Hip Hop artist who shot to fame with hits such as "Ndikhokhele bawo which is Xhosa for "Guide me Father" On 8 March 2010 he and his friend Themba Tshabalala caused a serious accident when they were drag racing under the influence of hard drugs on a public road near a school. Four children were killed and another two survived with brain damage. On 5 December 2012, both were sentenced to 25 years in jail each for culpable homicide. The sentences were reduced from 25 years to 10 years and on 5 January 2017 he was released on parole after serving 4 years, one month and one day of his sentence, his fellow accused Themba Tshabalala was also released on parole the same day. Whilst still in prison our guest wrote a song entitled "Ke kopa Tshwarelo" (please forgive me) We are this morning in our studios here in Johannesburg, having breakfast with Molemo Jub Jub Maarohanye!
